What is Gaia?

I began in this business recently married, and along the way I have had three children who I’ve watched grow and with whom I have grown as a person every day. I have enjoyed and suffered as every parent the pros and cons of the Spanish education system, and I have become very aware of the enormous responsibility carried by all of us dedicated to the world of education.
My experience as a young professional sportsperson, my time studying in the United States and, above all, the education in values imparted to me by my family throughout my life have all taught me important lessons, such as the need to believe in oneself, to be constantly learning from all that surrounds us, and to be courageous and to face life with optimism. With this experience, I founded Gaia in 1991. What began as a business devoted to environmental education has grown over the years into a project that offers a full and rounded learning experience.
I do not think the same way today as when I took my first steps in the business world. I have learned a lot about education during this time. I have discovered the enormous potential of children and young adults, about how to stir in them the essential capacities of curiosity and imagination, and how to facilitate their happiness. If today I had to summarise my experience in just one phrase, I would say that teaching is and must be vocational. I would go further; it’s a passion. My passion. When you are an educator, you have to be always in the right place at the right time. You must know how to transmit your knowledge and you have to enjoy what you do.
I begin each new project with this in mind. I would like to be able to look back and know that I have contributed in some way to improving education in Spain.

TEACHING IS OUR WORLD
It’s what we like to do and we do it with passion in every one of the programs we organize. We apply all our experience to impart values and to educate children for the future, developing and encouraging their capacities to the maximum.
We teach children and young adults to respect the world around them. We believe in education for the future, one that widens horizons, that motivates youngsters to participate actively in shaping their future, that stimulates their curiosity so that they can use that most potent of tools: their imagination.
At Gaia, our highest objective is the happiness of our children and young adults, and from here comes everything else: languages, sports, environmental education, solidarity and more.

The Gaia Camp counselor are a team of trained and qualified young men and women, who demonstrate every year a profound sense of respect, protection and affection towards the children. The ratio of one counselors to every four children guarantees security and personal treatment. At Gaia Camp, the counselors take care of every detail to ensure a safe, educative and enriching experience for our Gaia Campers.

At Gaia Camp we believe that it is necessary to unite not only to be together but also to act together. This is why every year we collaborate with an NGO to organize activities so that our Gaia Campers can get involved in voluntary work and come to realize the importance of solidarity.
The Day of Solidarity is an activity that has become the most important day at Gaia Camp.
